Role:

Product Designer

Schools in Nigeria struggle with fragmented systems, manual processes, and lack of visibility. Teachers were overwhelmed, parents were out of the loop, and students didn’t have easy access to schedules, grades, or resources. Shelf21 was created to unify school operations, simplify workflows, and make education management intuitive for everyone.

The Challenge:

Teachers spent too much time on admin work instead of teaching. Parents had no clear view of their child’s progress. Students lacked timely access to important information. Existing systems were costly and complicated for most schools.

The mission was to design an affordable, streamlined platform that worked for all roles.

My Role & Approach:

As a Product Designer at Shelf21, I collaborated with a designer and engineers to bring Shelf21 to life. I conducted research with educators, parents, and admins, created role-specific wireframes and prototypes, built a scalable design system, collaborated closely with developers, and designed the pitch deck to secure stakeholder support.

The Solution:

My Impact:

  • First set of role-based interfaces delivered on schedule

  • Design-to-development turnaround reduced by 24%

  • Scalable design system improved consistency across the platform

  • Pitch deck secured stakeholder buy-in

  • Laid the foundation for a tool that makes school operations efficient, transparent, and affordable
